Carrollton Ballet

The Carrollton Center for the Arts offers two tracks for dancers – a Recreational Track and an Academy Track. The Recreational Track is for dancers that also enjoy dance as a leisure activity or dancers that are being introduced to dance for the first time.

The Academy Track is designed to properly introduce and develop skills and knowledge needed for the student’s proper development as a dancer.  This curriculum-based program is formed based on traditions rooted in Russian Technique and the Vaganova Method of ballet. This training requires taking ballet multiple times per week. Dancers that consider ballet their main training activity and possible career choice should join this track. In this program dancers are also introduced and trained in specialty classes, such as Pre-Pointe, Pointe, Character Dance and more. Evaluation by Artistic Director, Jurijs Safonovs, is required to join the Academy Track.

Classes begin the week of January 14, 2019.
Special Note: Spring Showcase is on May 11th at 7pm. A $25 Performance Fee is required to participate in the Spring Showcase.

Other Dance Programs

Beginning Clogging
Clogging is an expressive style of dance with origins in folk dances of the British Isles, Africa, & pre-Columbian America. Settlers in the American South took elements of these styles to form a unique American dance style, Appalachian clog dancing. The Art Center is proud to bring out of retirement Peggy Robinson. Ms. Robinson has taught clogging for 25 years at her studio – Peggy’s School of Dance. We are happy to have Ms. Robinson back on the dance floor.
